Blogging | Two hints to better blogging

If you have your own blog or website or you produce content for others, then at some stage you are likely to run into the problem that all writers eventually encounter, Writers Block. Either that or you begin to feel that your content is getting stale, that you are rehashing the same subjects.

If you have your own blog or website or you produce content for others, then at some stage you are likely to run into the problem that all writers eventually encounter, Writers Block. Either that or you begin to feel that your content is getting stale, that you are rehashing the same subjects.

So how do you make sure that the content you are providing your readers is engaging and adds value to your blog or site. You have to be able to do this if you want to make as much money from your blog as possible and you have to be able to do it on a regular basis. This is of particular importance if your readership has come to expect regular updates from you.

These are the two single biggest secrets that you need to understand if you want to be able to produce regular, engaging content without the problems of writers block.

1. Write something everyday – This I think is the best piece of advice I have ever been given in relation to writing professionally or even semi professionally. I was given it many years ago at the Brisbane Writers Festival and have heard it echoed over the years from a wide range of people including one of the most prodigious and successful writers of our time Stephen King. If you write something everyday then you get used to the process of writing, you develop habits, it becomes part of your life. Even if what you write is not brilliant everyday, there will always be gems within it somewhere. if you can’t write on the subject you want to, then just write something, anything, a poem even and you will be surprised in the long run how easy producing good content becomes.
2. Keep a Journal – If you really want to get good at writing, if you really want to be able to create good content on an ongoing basis then carry a journal with you everywhere and use it. Get yourself a good quality note book and whenever you encounter something during the day jot it down, make notes of your experiences and the things that happed, observations and the like. Very quickly you will find that you have a massive resource, a mountain of thought starters and content ideas to fall back on when the your brain struggles to find something to write about.

If you do both of things and you make both of them habits then very soon you will find that you have enough material that the question of producing engaging, regular content becomes simple.
